The new online library system the Library launched on August 27 continues to provide users with a faster tool for library searches.
While the layout and features of the new catalog are different from the old, this new system ensures more efficient use of our resources. Libraries
across the country have successfully implemented the same catalog, and library users have been pleased with the results.
One of the benefits is its flexibility. Many of our loyal users have forwarded suggestions to the Library on how the upgraded system could be improved
to help them search the Library’s collection more effectively. The public’s support and recommendations have inspired us to develop a task force of
library experts to consider adding and changing options that enhance the current system.
Also, during this time of transition, the Library wants to remind all library users that materials that were placed on reserve on the old system will
be available for pick up at the library where library cards were issued. For example, if your library card was issued at the Main Library, these
reserves will be sent to the Main Library; or, if your library card was issued at a particular Branch Library, your reserve materials will be sent to
that branch location for pick up. Materials you place on reserve using the new system will be sent to the pickup location you specify at the time you place the reserve.
The Library remains pleased with the smooth migration from the
old to the new system. The most grueling process is behind us.
However, as with any time of great change, we must ask for our
users' continued patience
and understanding as we adapt this innovative system to match
the needs of our community.
We are reviewing all the public comments we receive and our staff
is working diligently to respond to each request. The Library
values the opinions of our users and aspires to respond in a
timely manner. We apologize
if you have experienced a delay in response. Our technical staff
continues to work hard
each day to ensure your online library experience is pleasant.
